Community

Community: a people who share something in common. Shared awareness and a shared commitment to reach out and connect.

Suicide touches all ages and backgrounds, every racial and ethnic group, in all parts of the country.

Suicide can affect any of us at any time. We can be at greater risk at different points in our lives. Sometimes big changes in our lives, such as becoming an adult, retiring, or losing someone we love, can be overwhelming and increase our risk.

Some populations are more vulnerable. Suicide can increase the risk that surviving family and other loved ones, will die by suicide. Experiencing discrimination because of our ethnicity or sexuality can also cause psychological distress and increase risk.

Suicide impacts all our communities and reaching out and making healthy connections is a vital first step. Here you will find information and resources to increase understanding, make a connection and find support.
