Whitney Black, MD, is the Quality Medical Director in the Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Black describes how the Department of Psychiatry uses an online, system of measurement-based care to assess and monitor patients over time. Oregon Firearm Safety Toolkit
This website highlights research on firearm safety with patients at risk of suicide conducted by Drs. Keys, Marino, Wolsko (OSU-Cascades) and Pennavaria (at the time of the research, LaPine Community Health Center. The website also contains a number of communication tools and training videos based on this research. The training videos demonstrate specific communication skills to sue when having a conversation about firearms with a suicidal patient or family member.
